I had already suspected that if we chose Maruki's reality, I would cease to be "myself." Every flaw, every traumatic experience that shaped me would be scrubbed away. What is that, if not another form of death?
I'm certain some other versions of me want to mold him back to the person he was.
Having spoken to him, I believe his ability to perceive and understand the world around him is more pertinent. He is who he is now, and by the sound of it, you have assumed some semblance of responsibility for your mistake.
So, really, I fail to see what harming you would accomplish, but I will be watching to ensure you keep your word this time.
